Awakening Recovery is structured as a non-profit to be of service to others.

LA Tech News is passionate about our community and has chosen to support Awakening Recovery, a tax exempt 501(c)3 California non-profit (EIN: 47-4819990).

Having experienced first hand the devastation of the disease called addiction affecting individuals, families and society at large.

We strongly believe in supporting the recovery community here in Los Angeles.

Awakening Recovery is dedicated to assisting those who seek long term recovery and sobriety from alcoholism and drug addiction.

Structured as a 501(c)3 non-profit and receiving 80% of funding through private donations.

Awakening Recovery’s mission is “Never say no to an addict willing to go through our process because of a lack of funds”, says Executive Director David Van Der Velde.

Per the American Medical Association, addiction is a disease centered in the mind caused by a combination of behavioral, environmental and biological factors.

  • 23,500,000 people in the United States today suffer from the disease of addiction
    • That is 1 in every 10 people
  • Over five million ER visits yearly and growing attributed to addiction overdose
    • This rate has tripled in the last three years
  • Approximately 142 people die everyday from the disease of addiction per CDC
