7.1 Magnitude Earthquake USGS Reports

7.1 magnitude earthquake shortly after 8:00 pm this evening with the epicenter eleven miles from Ridgecrest, California.

This marks the second large quake in days. July 4th witnessed the first quake registering at 6.4 with basically the same epicenter.

Hundreds of after shocks have been report.

USGS reported no major infrastructure damage, gas leaks or major injuries. Fires in certain contained areas.

Ridgecrest Mayor Peggy Breeden declared a state of emergency seeking help from both Federal and State entities.

Ridgecrest, California is located in Kern County, approximately 146 miles from Los Angeles.
